Meeting of Minister Biser Petkov and MPs with EASPD and NASO Managements
Just before the opening session of the European conference Varna 2018 Minister Biser Petkov and MPs Hasan Ademov, chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Labour and Social Policy, and Svetlana Angelova, vice-chair of the Committee, met with the EASPD and NASO managements. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Sultanka Petrova, EASPD President James Crow and Secretary General Luk Zelderloo, the EASPD Executive Committee members, NASO President Georgi Georgiev and part of the NASO team.
In an atmosphere of partnership and friendship their discussion centred on the current topics and tasks on the agenda of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, NASO, Europe and EASPD, as well as on partnership opportunities in the social sector. The main focus of attention at the meeting was the preparing and holding of the European conference and the development of social economy, social services, employment, and issues related to disability support in Bulgaria and Europe. Satisfaction was expressed with the strong and effective partnership of EASPD with Bulgaria and the important role of NASO in this process, and thanks were shared for giving Bulgaria and Varna in particular the opportunity of hosting this European conference supported by the MLSP and all Bulgarian state and local authorities and being of great importance to the social sector development in Bulgaria. Some common actions were specified including a partnership in the drafting and adoption of the new laws on social services, social economy and the integration of people with disabilities. A further meeting between Minister of Labour and Social Policy Biser Petkov and EASPD Secretary General Luk Zelderloo was also scheduled for the autumn of this year.
