EASPD General Assembly Meeting
An EASPD General Assembly meeting within this year's conference on Flourishing Lives – Supportive Communities and Sustainable Development was held in Podgorica, Montenegro, on 27-28 October 2017, which was attended by NASO representatives and other Bulgarian organisations. Following the EASPD Strategy 2018-2021, for the first time a full-day GA meeting was organized in small group discussion work sessions. The Board members played a key role in facilitating the group work and confining the discussions to the four objectives of the strategy defining what EASPD should be: 1. a core service provider linking its members working with people with disabilities at local level to European policies; 2. an innovative leader in the European social care sector; 3. a Knowledge Centre on disability service provision at European level; and 4. an organisation that encourages its membership to be more actively involved, improves its quality monitoring and seeks a stronger sustainability. At the end of each work session a group's participant summarised their topic for discussion.
An opportunity was given to draft new proposals and seek further clarifications by December this year when the strategy is expected to be finally approved by the EASPD Executive Committee and Board. After finalizing the strategy, it will be translated into several languages to make it more accessible to the EASPD members.
At the end of the meeting, Mr Georgiev invited all attendees to the next EASPD conference in Varna in June 2018, when the next EASPD General Assembly will be held.
