NASO annual awards for contribution to social development of Bulgaria
On June 9, 2016, within the National Forum/Exhibition "Social Services, Employment and Development", held June 8 - 10, the official ceremony of the annual awards of National Alliance for Social Responsibility for contribution to the social development of Bulgaria was held. The awarded categories were NGOs, Social Services, Corporations and Art and Culture. The awards in Municipalities category were given on April 13, 2016 during the 11th National Forum of Social Service Providers in Veliko Tarnovo.
Foundation "Fund PP - IGA" received the grand award in NGOs category for 2016. Mr. Luk Zelderloo, Secretary General of EASPD announced and handed the award to Mr. Dimitar Rusinov, IGA president. Several special awards were given in the same category – award for active social activities and innovative approach development. Ivaylo Naydenov, state expert at the Ministry of Labor and Social Services announced the first special award for Social Center Burgas Asssociation. Maya Kazandzhieva, director of Social Activities, Healthcare and Sports Department of Burgas Municipality received the award on behalf of the winner. "We would like to thank sincerely! We are pleased that our efforts are noticed and appreciated," stated a letter of gratitude on behalf of the Association. The next special award in the NGOs category was for Eyes on Four Paws Foundation. Ms. Tatiana Pashinova, deputy executive director of the Employment Agency gave the award to Kiril Kirchev, client of the Foundation and his guide dog Glory, a graduate of Eyes on Four Paws. Dr. Lydia Marinova, Vice-Chairperson of Varna Municipal Council announced and presented the next special award in the category to Mrs. Yordanka Nencheva, "Save the woman" Association.
Mr. Dimitar Kralev, expert of Social Protection Fund gave the first award in Social Services categoties – an award for active partnership and quality of social services to Complex of Social Services for Children and Families - Plovdiv. Ms Nedka Petrova, manager of the Complex received the award. "Thanks for the assessment, it is for all colleagues. Thanks also Plovdiv Municipality for the support in our work. Today we are in a position to help, but tomorrow we may have need of support. So let's create and provide social services that we may need," said Ms Petrova. The next award in the same category was given to Social Rehabilitation and Integration Center “Alternative”, managed by Alternative 55 Civil Association. “This is an amazing gift in a year when our Association turns 17 years old,” said Ms Radka Doncheva, Board member, when receiving the award from Ms Lyubomira Komitska, Director of Social Activities Department of Varna Municipality.
Ms. Vesselina Botev, Director of Social Policies Department of Plovdiv Municipality and NASO Board member presented the next award in this category to Mental Health Center - Ruse. "Thanks NASO for noticing and appreciating our work. Currently we have five services for people with mental disorders, but we have the ambition to grow. Our leading motto is quality and complexity, "said Mr. Valeri Vasilev.
Ms. Svetla Grigorova, NASO Board member awarded Elderly Home "Longevity" - Sofia. "Thanks for the attitude, attention, and making us feel special. This award is for my colleagues, "said Mrs. Snejina Philipova, representative of the social service.
Ms. Vesselina Stoilova, Ombudsman of people with disabilities in Varna received a special award for partnership, commitment and professionalism. "I am pleasantly surprised because usually people who help are sometimes forgotten. I rarely hear thanks for what I do, but now sincerely and warmly thank for the high honour," said Ms. Stoilova.
Mr. Luk Zelderloo gave a special award in Art and Culture category to HobiSklub - Dobrich. "A have always felt as a part of this great team of NASO, so this award is a surprise to me. Friends, each of you has a share in this award," said Mr. Ivan Todorov, chairman of HobiSklub.
At the end of the ceremony, Mr. Georgi Georgiev, NASO president, announced a special award for partnership. It was awarded to Varna Municipality and accepted by Mrs. Lubomira Komitska, Director of Social Activities. "We are not just partners, we are friends and we work together with beating hearts to support people in need," said Mrs. Komitska.
Two more grand awards were announced during the ceremony. The winner of the grand award in Corporations category is Aurubis Bulgaria. Theatre FLOWER is the winner of the grand award in Arts and Culture category. NASO will hand both awards additionally.
“The first time when I came to Bulgaria 13 years ago, I thought that EASPD must learn Bulgaria how to provide care for persons with disabilities and other groups in need. Now, during the last years when I come back, I find out that Bulgaria has so many innovative and qualitative approaches of care that all Europe can learn from you. Thank you for lessons learned, for your hard work, humanity and warmth - all these makes your efforts unique,” said Mr. Zelderloo at the closing of the ceremony.
