Disability Leaders of Tomorrow project with NASO participation launched e-learning hub
The Disability Leaders of Tomorrow (D-LoT) e-learning hub (http://dlot.eu/) is now launched! The D-LoT e-learning hub is an informational and interactive environment for the project participants: 15 mentors and 15 mentees from 15 countries. In time it will be deployed as the EASPD’s e-learning hub and will continue providing online training and training materials and resources for the disability provision sector beyond the project’s lifetime. On behalf of Bulgaria experts of National Alliance for Social Responsibility (NASO) and Agency of Social Development “Vision” are taking part in the project. The D-LoT hub is designed as a comprehensive online learning environment containing two main components, a Knowledge Centre and an E-learning platform.
The D-LoT Knowledge Centre is currently developed with a selection of materials and resources such as articles, research and scientific publications, models of good practice, legislation and policy documents. It is structured following the key themes for disability service providers: Horizontal Issues, among which are: European/International legal and policy frameworks, Quality of Services, Funding of Services, Users' Involvement, Employment, Inclusive Education, Early Intervention, Inclusive Living (including de-institutionalisation), Accessibility, and Inclusive Arts=
Ultimately the Knowledge Centre will serve as a reference point of information for professionals from the disability service provision sector, as well as for service users and their families, disabled persons’ organisations, academia and authorities. The Knowledge Centre will be built up throughout 2016 and 2017 and will be continuously updated in the future. EASPD invites you to be part of the process and send contributions!
We will be happy to receive relevant materials for the disability sector through which you could disseminate your knowledge and good practices! In order to participate, please follow the guidelines described here (in pdf). The deadline for this first round of contributions is 31st May 2016. Share your knowledge, experience and good practices to contribute to the development of the support services of the future! The E-Learning Platform facilitates the online training activities of the D-LoT project as well as the continuous interaction between the participants. It includes: D-LoT course: 10 training modules based on core learning outcomes for key managerial personnel in the disability service provision sector.
During the project implementation (May 2015-May 2017), the D-LoT course is designed as a “Small Private Online Course” (SPOC), which is open only to the project participants. During this period, the 15 mentees follow the ten training modules specifically designed to offer a holistic understanding of the current trends within the service provision sector and help them develop an innovative thinking approach in their work. With support of the mentors, the overall aim is for participants to transfer and apply the newly acquired knowledge in their specific contexts and daily practice within their organisations.
The ultimate capacity building effect of D-LoT lies in its continuity: between January and March 2017 Pass it on Projects will be organised. Then D-LoT course will be made available to a second group of participants, selected by the D-LoT mentees from their respective countries. They will be selected according to objective criteria and through a fully transparent process open to everyone who wishes to participate. At this stage the D-LoT mentees will become the facilitators of the e-learning platform and act as mentors at their local level to the selected entrants.
Beyond the project’s lifetime (as from June 2017), the D-LoT training course will become a “Massive Open Online Course” (MOOC) available to wider disability sector audience from across Europe. In addition, the hub will keep being enriched with new training courses delivered through various European projects and will maintain an updated Knowledge Centre. Both D-LoT MOOC and Knowledge Centre will be available for the general public for free, after registration in the platform.
The Disability Leaders of Tomorrow (D-Lot) project has been developed to support professionals from the service provision sector in promoting and coordinating real and sustainable change in service delivery in Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries. Coordinated by the European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD), the project is implemented in 15 countries. Through an innovative mentoring training programme, the project implements practical and customised support to professionals in service providing organisations on how to apply the paradigm shift as embodied in the UN CRPD principles in their specific environment and daily practice. The D-LoT project is generously supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
