NASO Annual Awards for Contribution to Social Development of Bulgaria
During the XI National Forum of Social Service Providers held on April 13 and 14, 2016 in the city of Veliko Tarnovo, the winners of NASO National Awards for Contribution to the Social Development of Bulgaria in Municipalities Category were also announced during a special awarding ceremony. The cities of Sofia, Varna, Burgas, Devin, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Karnobat, Veliko Turnovo and Ruse are holders of NASO Grand Award in previous years. The municipalities of Veliko Turnovo and Ruse as holders of NASO Grand Award in 2015 were hosting the 2016 ceremony and co-organizing the XI National Forum of Social Service Providers.
The holder of the Grand Award for Contribution to the Social Development of Bulgaria in 2016 is the municipality of Stara Zagora. Lazar Lazarov and Zornitsa Roussinova, deputy ministers of labour and social policy handed the award to Ivanka Sotirova, deputy mayor of Stara Zagora. “This recognition belongs to the whole administration of Stara Zagora and its mayor – Zhivko Todorov,”said Ms. Sotirova, and added that “we accept the award as a recognition for the social attitude we have to all citizens of Stara Zagora. Thanks to everybody who supported us in our work.”
In 2016 NASO awarded several thematic awards in different categories. Municipality of Blagoevgrad was given an Award for social investments and socially significant projects. An award for social entrepreneurship development and providing employment opportunities was given to the municipality of Dimitrovgrad. Municipality of Bansko received an award for active socially responsible local policy. Two other municipalities – Targovishte and Vidin, were recognized for active and effective partnership with the NGO sector. Awards for social commitment and good practices were given to the municipalities of Razgrad, Vratsa and Troyan. A special public award “City with best social policies” whereas online voting defined the winner was given to the municipality of Ruse which gathered almost 3000 unique votes.
“Regardless how trivial it sounds, social work is carried out with heart, so congratulations to all of you for the courage, enthusiasm and desire to do your job in the best way,” said deputy minister Roussinova in her congratulations to all winners. NASO annual awards have also NGO, Corporations, Social Services, and Arts and Culture categories. These awards will be announced and given during the forthcoming National forum/exhibition of social services that will be held in June 8-10 2016 in Varna.
