Social Service Advisory Center meeting in Plovdiv
On April 7, 2016 the representation of National Alliance for Social Responsibility (NASO) for Plovdiv District – the Social Services Complex for children and families (SSCCF) in the city of Plovdiv, hosted a meeting of the Social Service Advisory Center. The Social Service Advisory Center is a joint initiative of NASO and Agency of Social Assistance (ASA) that is organized every month. The meetings provide an opportunity to discuss and solve practical issues and provides support and methodological assistance for service providers and their teams.
Ms. Tanya Parvanova, chief expert in Child Protection Department of ASA, was moderating the meeting. Ms. Hedka Petrova, Director of SSCCF-Plovdiv and NASO representative for Plovdiv was hosting the event. Over 20 specialists from social services in Plovdiv, representatives of Social Assistance Directorate, Social Protection and Child Protection department, including of Ms. Nadya Taneba, director of Social Assistance Directorate, Ms. Anastasia Storyanova and Ms. Ivanka Cholakova, experts of Regional Directorate of Social Assistance, Ms. Donka Argirova, head of Persons with Disabilities and Social Services Department, and Ms. Velichka Blagoeva, expert in Regional Social Assistance – Plovdiv, attended the meeting.
The discussion covered principal matters such as implementing decrees of the Council of Ministers on minimal monthly wage increase for the country compared to the same level of single cost standards, current and expected legal changes, including of the law on social services and the law on social assistance. Some specifics of difference social services were reviewed in bigger detail, such as reporting social work within information meetings, need of separate directions when the same person uses difference services within the same Complex of Services, calculation of user fees and property and financial declarations of people using residential services, as well as others. The participants in the meeting received the written answers of questions given in advance and some additional clarifications were given.
The general high satisfaction with the meeting was expressed at the end of the meeting. Participants pointed out that this form of discussion - gathering the teams of social services, ASA experts and other responsible bodies, is extremely useful. The participants expressed their desire to organize similar meetings every month in future and ASA experts join them when needed. The common opinion was that the positive and effective discussion gives social experts higher motivation to improve quality of services.
